Would You Drink a Heinz Ketchup Smoothie?

  • Smoothies are meant to be fruity.

  • Ketchup is meant to go on chips.

  • So what happens when you blend them together?

That’s exactly what Heinz and Smoothie King have done and the result is causing more double-takes than a pineapple-on-pizza debate.

The Blend Nobody Asked For

This limited-edition drink combines Heinz Simply Ketchup with acai sorbet, apple juice, strawberries, and raspberries. Heinz calls it “a bright, tangy ketchup finish.”

Months of testing went into making sure the tomato tang didn’t overpower the berries. But social media? Not convinced. Comments range from “surprisingly good” to “absolutely disgusting.”

Where to Find It

Don’t panic or get too excited just yet. It’s only available in select US cities:

  • Atlanta

  • Chicago

  • Denver

  • Miami

  • New York City

  • Northern New Jersey

At $7.99 a cup, it’s clearly aimed at adventurous foodies who’ll try anything once.

Why Go This Route?

It’s not the first time Heinz has done something this unconventional. Earlier this year, they released Tomato Ketchup Zero, a no-added-sugar, no-added-salt version with 35% more tomatoes. It’s healthier, a completely different colour, and some fans swear it’s even better than the original.

These moves are strategic. Food collaborations like this are up 67% since 2020, with brands using the “wow, what is that?” factor to stand out online.

Question is, will the Heinz Ketchup Smoothie become a menu staple? Probably not. It’s more about creating a talking point, and making sure Heinz stays on your mind the next time you’re in the condiments aisle.

Because in 2025, marketing isn’t just about flavour. It’s about getting people to talk, post, argue, and share.
